Job title: Civil Supervisor – Well Site and Access Track Construction

Role synopsis:
BP will commence a drilling campaign for exploration in the Ghadames Basin. In 2010/2011 BP will drill four wells in this basin with the expectation of continued activity well into future years. This role is accountable for the preliminary scouting and selection of well sites and access routes/tracks, construction and the remediation of all. This role includes the supervision of construction contractors that execute this work ensuring that locations are rig ready when needed for the drilling program. This individual will also have the role of ensuring all construction activities are done within the BP Health Safety and Environmental, Control of Work (CoW) and Integrity Management (IM) frameworks. This position will be working Rotation (21 days on / 21 days off) within the Drilling and Completions (D&C) Department and will report to the Civil Engineer.

Key accountabilities:
Construction and Schedule Supervision:
• Ensure works being completed to the required dimensions and quality.
• Ensure works being carried out to schedule
• Rejection of any sub standard works that may cost BP to rectify at a later date
• Conduct daily meetings with the Contractor to review progress, program, quality and HSE issues and plan the next day’s activities

Scouting for Rig Move / Well Sites to Minimize Work:
• Ensure the most economic route/access track and well site location has been recommended 

Activity Reporting:
• Prepare and ensure BP daily reports are accurate (comprehensive and accurate records of all activities)
• Ensure progress is accurately monitored, measured, recorded and compared to completion
schedule and highlight any areas of concern
• Anticipate causes of delay and inform Contractor and Civil Engineer

Cost Awareness and Control:

• Ensure works are kept to a minimum to save cost (and time)
• Forward the updated work-order register to the Civil Engineer promptly at the end of every week
• Maintain a daily cost tracker and forward to the Civil Engineer at the end of every week
• Aggressively collect and ensure Contractor payment data/timesheets are correct before agreement and signing

BP HSE Standards and Procedures, HSE Supervision:

• Ensure compliance (by both BP and Contractor personnel), to BP HSE Standards, policies
and procedures.
• Check and approve Contractors Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessments and Control Measures
• Conduct weekly inspections/audits for camp, equipment and work place
• Ensure Contractor maintains and updates the Corrective Action Register (CAR)
• Instigate and chair weekly CAR status meeting
• Maintain accurate and keep up to date HSE reporting statistics and recorded on the daily report
• Ensure that all incidents/accidents and near miss reports are completed and recorded on the daily report.

Essential criteria & qualifications:

• Relevant oilfield experience in civil construction operations.
• Self motivated individual requiring minimal supervision
• Proactive approach
• Experience in the supervision and control of Contractors
• Experience managing relationships with Contractors and land owners (individuals)
• Experience supervising multiple construction teams working in different remote areas
• Ability to work as part of a team towards achieving shared objectives
• Able to work under time constraints and meet deadlines in a professional manner
• Ability to react to short notice changes to suit operational requirements
• Proven organizational and planning skills
• Strong health safety and environmental knowledge and commitment
• Sound knowledge of QC policies and procedures
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
• Good command of the English language
• Cost Conscious
• Strong interpersonal, communication and diversity skills
• Computer literacy with strong MS Office skills especially Word, Excel.

Desirable criteria & qualifications: College/Technician Diploma or equivalent
