Woodside’s interests in Libya cover 11,000sqkm over five exploration blocks in the Sirte Basin, the most prolific oil-producing region in North Africa, 600 to 900 km south-east of the capital, Tripoli.  The remaining 9000sqkm covers one block in the remote Murzuq Basin, about 600km south-west of Tripoli.  In the offshore Gulf of Sirte, Woodside operates four areas which covers 37,000 sqkm of acreage awarded in 2005.
